Small Reading Group*
$30 a Week
This online small group reading class is perfect for young learners in kindergarten and first grade who are just beginning to learn early reading skills such as letter sounds, CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, high frequency words, and phonemic awareness (awareness of the sounds in words) skills.
In this class, your learner will begin learning to read with a positive, encouraging teacher while also getting to know other classmates and interacting in a safe social online setting. Class meets twice a week on Zoom for about 30 minutes each session. We will play some phonics games to review skills, learn a new skill, and then practice the new skill by reading a decodable text together. Each student will have an opportunity to read aloud if they feel comfortable doing that. If not, that is totally fine! We can read together, whisper read, or do an echo reading instead.
My early reading program follows the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing.
We will use high-quality decodable reading passages and literacy activities in class.
